Stimulus Project

The Lancaster Airport is pursuing funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) through the Federal Aviation Administration.

The project to be funded by ARRA funds is to rehabilitate Taxiway A at the Lancaster Airport.  The approximate cost is $3,250,000.00.  The project will be funded 100% through ARRA.

At the monthly Board meeting held on Monday, June 8, 2009, the Lancaster Airport Authority Board reviewed the project and determined that the infrastructure investment is an appropriate use of taxpayer dollars.  At the meeting, certifications were  adopted as required by ARRA.  These certifications are posted and may be viewed at the following links:

Project Description

Bids were opened May 21, 2009 and the contract has been awarded to Landis C. Deck, A Division of Reading Materials.

At a special meeting held on Monday, June 15, 2009, the Lancaster Airport Authority Board accepted a grant agreement for the project in the amount of $3,250,000.00.  Contracts for the construction and engineering services were also awarded at the meeting.  A notice to proceed was issued to the contractor on July 9, 2009.

Currently the project is moving into it's second phase, with the final section of taxiway alpha being rehabilitated. On September 24, 2009 we are on construction day 67 of 120.

Due to the nature of the scope of work, the project has been stopped for winter break.  The project resumed in Spring 2010.  The project should be substantially completed by June 15, 2010.  We anticipate that the project will be on budget.

The project is substantially complete and has been accepted with minor items to complete.  The final costs are in the process of being confirmed, however, the project will be under budget.
